| The scientific counseling outpatient clinic, which is part of the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection, serves the population of Yerevan and all regions of the country. It has the following cabinets – gynecological, gynecology- endocrinological, endocrine- andrological, family planning, medical-genetic consultation, the laboratory of functional investigations, traditional medicine (manual therapy and needle-reflex therapy, phytotherapy, Fole diagnostics) and X-ray cabinet. Qualified medical specialists perform the admission of patients, diagnostics of diseases, and the selection of treatment methods. Patients with the following pathologies are accepted: 1. disorders of genital maturity 2. disorders of menstrual cycle 3. neuro-endocrine syndromes, pathological climacteric, and menopause 4. male and female sterility 5. different etiology vaginitis 6. specific vaginitis 7. viral diseases (papilloma-virus and herpetic infections, cytomegalovirus and others) 8. specific and non-specific inflammatory diseases of pelvic organs 9. tumors of female genital organs 10. pathological changes of uterine cervix Except general therapeutic procedures treatment includes also physiotherapy, phytotherapy, homeopathy, manual therapy, and needle-reflex therapy. Department of pre-delivery management of pregnancy fulfils pre-delivery management of women with normal pregnancy as well as women with high-risk pregnancy. Along with common diagnostic procedures, AFP-screening is performed. Management of pregnant women is done in coordination with a general practitioner, cardiologist, endocrinologist, and neuropathologist. There is an opportunity for daily monitoring of blood pressure and pulse for revealing pregnant women with high risk of development of different hypertensive disorders. Couples expecting children could also be prepared for delivery here. Mother supporting groups are organized, where lectures about breastfeeding are given and fathers are trained to participate in delivery and help after discharge. There is effective collaboration between department of pre-delivery management of pregnancy and department of high-risk pregnancy. The obstetrician, who manages the pregnancy period, is also allowed to participate during the delivery. | ||

| The laboratory performs: 1. Ultrasound examination of pregnant women: status of internal organs, revealing of possible abnormalities, assessment of amniotic index, assumed fetal body index, biophysical profile, and state of the postoperative scar of uterus. 2. Ultrasound examination pelvic organs - localization, size and structure of the uterus and ovaries diagnostics of pelvic formations ultrasound monitoring of follicle development, diagnostics of ectopic pregnancy; examination of fallopian tubes permeability. 3. Ultrasound mammography-breast cancer diagnostics, revealing of different forms of mastopathy, benign tumors, differential diagnostic of benign and malignant tumors, drainage of cysts with further histological investigation, examination of pregnant and breast-feeding women. 4. Examination of thyroid gland and abdominal cavity organs (liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys). 5. Ultrasound examination of newborns (brain structures and internal organs). 6. Cardiotocography - registration of fetal heart beating and uterine contractions. 7. Transcervical and transabdominal biopsy of chorion, as well as amniocentesis and cordocentesis, are performed of women with complicated obstetrical history. |
