The Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection was founded in 1931 in Yerevan by the decree of the Armenian Government. |
The Scientific Council headed by the Director guides the scientific activities of the Center. Experts, approbation and ethnic committees also work at the Council. The scientific research at the Center is conducted in close cooperation with various research institutions of the republic. Within the framework of close cooperation with WHO, contacts with similar institutions in other countries are held. An important task of the Center is to introduce recent advances in science and technology into practical work by publishing monographs, manuals, textbooks, methodological recommendations on important problems of obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, anesthesiology and traditional medicine. The research activities of the Center include also organization of symposia and an annual scientific conference titled “Current problems of obstetrics and gynecology.” The Center is the base for postgraduate training of doctors, midwives and nurses. Physicians are trained individually in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecological endocrinology, ultrasound diagnosis, anesthesiology, surgical gynecology, neonatology, traditional medicine and laboratory diagnostics. The Center is involved in the working out of state scientific projects. The scientists of the Center are actively involved in the preparation of international conferences, congresses and WHO meetings.

NGO "Society of Nurses" (Chairperson - Chinaryan Armida, Chief-sister of obstetrical clinic)

The "Society of Nurses" (NGO) was founded on 23 April 1996 during the first Republican Conference. It was registered at the Ministry of Justice on 28 February 1997. “Society of Nurses” NGO operates, based on the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Armenia, and according to the legal treaties that Armenia is a party to and the Statutes of the "Society of Nurses". In its operation “Society of Nurses” is guided by the principles of legitimacy, volunteerism, transparency, self-financing, and self-management. The goal of the Society is to combine efforts and abilities of nurses, midwives, and laboratory assistants in order to give a new impulse to the development of nursing in Armenia. To achieve this goal the Society collaborates with government bodies, international NGOs and healthcare institutions. The “Society of Nurses” as the only organization as such, represents the nursing profession both in Armenia and abroad. |
